About Me
BComm (Journ), GDip(Creatvwrit), MA(WritLit), PhD(candidate)
Hiya, Iām JC š
I write Young Adult fiction from our property in rural Victoria, Australia. Half my life is spent writing YA, and the other half is spent reminding our dachshunds they are not in charge (they disagree ā often very loudly).
I write YA because the books you read as a teenager stick. They get under your skin and stay there for life. I still remember the books I read, and I want to write the ones youāll remember too.
I have a Master of Arts (Writing & Literature), and Iām currently working on a PhD in Creative Writing, focusing on how fear affects voice, space and decision-making in YA fiction. My work has been shortlisted for the 2025 Scarlet Stiletto Awards, and I was awarded a 2025 Varuna Roderick Fellowship.
When Iām not writing or researching, youāll find me watching murder-mysteries, hanging out with my family, or rescuing socks from our two chaotic dachshunds.
Iām building Happy Harris Publishing to bring Australian teen readers stories with grit, heart, and a little wildness.Ā
Straight from the bush to your bookshelf.Ā
Thanks so much for supporting my indie author dream!
Love,
JC
